Planning a trip to Italy?
Whether you’re dreaming of sipping wine in Tuscany, exploring ancient ruins in Rome, or cruising along the Amalfi Coast, this guide will help you choose where to go and how to make the most of your time.
Iconic Italy
Italy is one of the most popular destinations in Europe—and for good reason. From the dreamy canals of Venice to the rolling vineyards of Tuscany, the ancient streets of Rome to the colorful villages along the Amalfi Coast, there’s something magical around every corner.
Florence has a way of quickly becoming your favorite city. Between the Renaissance architecture and the way the sun sets over the Arno River, it’s the kind of place that stays with you long after you leave.
Then there’s Rome—truly iconic. You could spend days wandering its historic neighborhoods, stumbling on ancient ruins and eating your way through every piazza.
For postcard-worthy views, Cinque Terre and the Amalfi Coast are hard to beat. Positano, in particular, feels like a fairytale—perched on the cliffs, colorful and romantic, and absolutely unforgettable.

Best Time to Visit Italy
Trying to decide when to visit Italy?
You’re not alone—it’s one of the first questions I get asked when helping clients plan their trip.
And honestly, there’s no bad time to go. But depending on what you want to see and how you like to travel, some months are definitely better than others.
Spring and fall are considered Italy’s shoulder seasons—and they’re some of the best times to go. Fewer crowds, pleasant weather, and better prices make April–May and late September–October ideal for exploring.
Spring, especially, is one of my favorite times to visit. The countryside is blooming, the cities come to life, and you can enjoy iconic sights before the summer rush.
Winter (December through March) is the most affordable time to visit. While it’s colder, it’s also quieter—you’ll find cheaper flights, festive Christmas markets, and plenty of time to wander museums and cozy trattorias without the crowds.
And of course… summer in Italy? It’s hot and it’s crowded—but it’s also vibrant, sun-drenched, and totally unforgettable.
